Practical information
The residency lasts for three calendar months, from March 1 to June 5, 2026. The period concludes with Sörängens folkhögskola’s summer closing event.
Simultaneously with the call for a visiting artist, a call will be issued for a local artist with connection to Jönköping County. The selection of artists will be made in consultation with the reference group at Region Jönköping County, Sörängens folkhögskola, and former residents Sander Joon and Minna Floss.
The grant is awarded as follows:
A grant of 60,000 SEK in total is paid for the entire period. Region Jönköping County will also cover travel expenses up to 5,000 SEK to and from the region, as well as travel within the county during the residency. Additionally, Region Jönköping County provides shared accommodation in Nässjö, where the two residents have separate rooms, shared common areas, and a studio/workspace at Sörängens folkhögskola for the entire period.
The following is included in collaboration with Sörängens folkhögskola:
• hosting for both residents throughout the entire stay
• Sörängens folkhögskola plans and offers opportunities to participate in the school’s activities, such as lectures, seminars, and trips, and — in consultation with both residents — arranges their participation in the Hi26 event
• Sörängens folkhögskola provides each resident with a workstation, including a computer equipped with software for digital animation, image processing, and editing. Access is also offered to direct animation stations, a sound studio, and studios for drawing, painting, and sculpture.
As a visiting artist in residence, we expect you to
• participate in the Hi26 event in consultation with the local resident and Sörängens folkhögskola during the residency period
• meet other filmmakers/animators connected to the local resident and the activities of Sörängens folkhögskola during the residency period
• write a short text about your residency (maximum two A4 pages).
The visiting artist in residence is responsible for:
• their own insurance
• any materials needed during the residency
• living expenses not covered by the grant
Selection
In selecting the visiting artist, we make an overall assessment based on how the applicant motivates their thoughts on the residency in relation to their artistic practice.
