Practical information

The residency lasts for two calendar months, from October to November, 2026.

Simultaneously with the call for a local artist, a call will be issued for a visiting artist in residence from the rest of Sweden, the Nordic countries, and internationally. The selection of artists will be made in consultation with the reference group at Region Jönköping County and Kultivera.

The grant is awarded as follows:
A grant of 60,000 SEK in total is paid for the entire period, and Region Jönköping County also covers travel within the county during the residency. In addition, Region Jönköping County will provide a workspace at Kultivera for the entire period, in consultation with the residents.

The following is included in collaboration with Kultivera:
• hosting for both residents throughout the entire stay
• Kultivera plans and offers opportunities to participate in their activities, such as lectures, seminars, trips, and more, as well as arranging at least one public event in consultation with the residents.
• Kultivera provides each resident with a workspace. Any additional requests from the residents will be addressed prior to the start of the residency.

As a local artist in residence, we expect you to
• participate in at least one public event, in consultation with the visiting artist in resident and Kultivera, during the residency period
• meet other artists connected to the visiting resident and the activities of Kultivera during the residency period
• write a short text about your residency (maximum two A4 pages).

The local artist in residence is responsible for:
• their own insurance
• any materials (including production costs) needed during the residency
• living expenses not covered by the grant

Selection

In selecting the local artist, we make an overall assessment based on how the applicant motivates their thoughts on the residency in relation to their artistic practice. We will also consider accessibility and strive for geographical diversity within the county.
